Brill and Eric Watch TV 223
We review the new “Flash Gordon” series and run down our summer viewing list, including the Glenn Close/Ted Danson thriller “Damages” and Alton Brown’s “Feasting on Asphalt.”
Eric gives a brief lesson in comics’ early days and explains how the Sci Fi re-imagining of “Flash Gordon” (starring Eric Johnson, photo, left) deviates wildly from both the 1930s version of the character and the campy ’80s movie with the Queen soundtrack.
Plus, we have recent casting and other developments for some of the new shows, including FOX’s “New Amsterdam” and “K-Ville,” CBS’ troubled vampire drama “Moonlight,” NBC’s “Bionic Woman,” and ABC’s “Miss/Guided” and “Dirty Sexy Money.”

Well, thanks for the explanation on the shows you cover (I’m the one who mentioned Bones). I’ve just started listening to your show this summer, so I guess I’m not sure what shows are in your normal rotation. Adding Friday Night Lights and Bones would be great! And I also love Weeds and (secretly) love Greek. Even if I don’t watch what you guys are talking about, you still make me laugh and make Monday’s a bit better!

Ugh. Against your guys advice and my own better judgment, I tried to watch “Flash Gordan” Friday night. That was not very good. The pacing of the show was not very good and the directing was very soap-opery (tight on faces with multiple switches in scenes). I had to turn it off after two segments, I couldn’t take anymore.

Wow, I never realized how often I say “very”. I think I am just adverb happy in general.
