We reevaluate “Torchwood” (photo, right), are inspired by “Superbad” to go back to school with “Undeclared” and question the reality of FOX ’s “Anchorwoman.”
Though originally dismissive of “Dr. Who” spinoff “Torchwood,” we find a lot to like in subsequent episodes. (For our original review of “Torchwood” and the new season of “Dr. Who,” check out Brill and Eric Watch TV 212.)
We had so much fun watching this week’s No. 1 movie, “Superbad,” that we rushed home to check out an earlier Judd Apatow and Seth Rogen collaboration, the short-lived series “Undeclared.” See, we do more than watch TV. We see movies, too, sometimes.
“Anchorwoman” may be reality TV, but it feels fake… Just not fake enough to be good.
There’s also plenty of news afoot, from the cancellation of “John From Cincinnati” to the ratings records of “Weeds” and “High School Musical 2.” A replacement is named for Mandy Patinkin on “Criminal Minds,” while Anjelica Huston and James Marsters sign on for stints on two returning shows.

Alright Eric. Prove your geek cred. What comics do you read?

There is a technical problem with you latest podcast, either in download or podcast form. As soon as Brill mentions that two stars of Weeds were in “Angels in America”, the podcast ends at that point. This happens early on in the podcast. It happens exactly in the podcast and download versions. Could you please fix it so I can hear what you guys say about Torchwood? Thank you. It only plyas the first few minutes of podcast and that is it.

Dean: I can play the file in the built-in player, via iTunes (when both downloaded and via subscription) and in my browser by just loading the file using the “download” link.
I’ll email you at the address you provided when you commented. If anyone else is having this problem, please let me know by emailing brillanderic@gmail.com.

Download window opens Quicktime player. Subscribed also to iTunes feed of podcast. Playing off popup window also has podcast not exceeding one minute in length. Cutoff point is always the same at when Angels in America is mentioned, last word heard is America. I have never had any technical problem with podcasts before. Thank you.

Dean: I emailed you, check it out and let me know if you still have problems.
John: Calling me out! I have actually cut back on my comics buying, but here’s what I’m currently reading:
Batman titles (when Morrison & Dini actually write them), Action Comics, Green Arrow: Year 1, Justice League, Justice Society, Superman Confidential, All Star Superman, The Spirit, Teen Titans, Countdown (though I’m about to give up on it), Fables, Jack of Fables, 100 Bullets, Exterminators, Y: The Last Man, Un-Men (written by my friend John!), Astonishing X-Men, Avengers titles, Ultimates, Ultimate Fantastic Four, World War Hulk (and Frontline), Runaways, Thor, Planetary, Ex Machina, Buffy Season 8…
Just like an Oscar acceptance speech, I’m sure I’ve left out some good ones, but that’s the gist of it. I grew up on DC, read mostly indies in college, and have been buying more and more Marvel stuff over the past few years. I also read a lot more stuff in trade paper backs, either as loaners from pals or from our library.

I read some of the Simpsons comics when I was a kid, can I join the Kool Kids Klub?
And I have had no problems with the podcast. Might be a browser setting for you, Dean.

Comics geeks are now in the Kool Kids Klub? Not when I was a kid… Thank you, Seth Cohen!
