Brill and Eric Watch TV 230
We review CBS’s “Moonlight” and examine the premieres of “House,” “Bones,” “Ugly Betty,” “Dexter,” “Desperate Housewives,” “Private Practice,” “Brothers & Sisters,” and “Numb3rs.”
The Fall TV Season is off and running and we’ve seen new episodes of many returning shows. We discuss how things are shaping up for several popular shows and even add one to our regular viewing (for now) based on its premiere. Along the way, we review CBS’s troubled vampire drama, “Moonlight,” (photo, left), the most heavily rejiggered of all the new shows.
In news, we translate ratings reports to make sense of the network spin on last week’s debuts, including “Gossip Girl,” “Kid Nation,” “Nashville,” “K-Ville” and “Back to You.” Plus, NBC’s online strategy continues to fragment.

I concur completely with the trend of series where we as viewers stop caring about what exactly happens to the characters. I would also warn Brill, however, that there is also the problem of caring too much about what happens to characters, which she might run into while watching Friday Night Lights.
Great podcast this week, although its length kept me listening far longer than this morning’s alarm appreciated.
[Sidenote: Rejiggered? Or Rejigged? I greatly enjoy saying either word, but some part of me gravitates towards the latter]

Thanks, Myles. Believe it or not, we actually cut some things from this week’s podcast to shorten it. We do our best to keep ‘em under 30 minutes or split them up into 2.
“Rejigger” and “rejig” are actually both correct and basically have the same meaning. It’s a bit of an in-joke; I challenged Brill’s use of “rejigger” during an episode of the original B&E Watch TV podcast and triggered a slew of listener email.

Okay, maybe I am knit picking by why do we see the reflection of the vampire in the photograph that was used on your home page. Yes, it is not a mirror but still…
I would rather have “Angel” come back myself.

As we said, “Moonlinght” really messes with the vampire mythos. Sunlight causes nausea AND they have reflections? Meh.
Looks like we were on the money with calling “Nashville” as the first cancellation of the season. “K-Ville” reruns will air in its time slot.
